Empowering You to Empower Others

The purpose of the "Transforming Workplace Culture" Programme is to set in place the foundations for a culture of honour which operates across all departments and levels of the residential home, between owners, managers, seniors, staff and of course - the residents themselves.

The purpose of the "Transforming Workplace Culture" Programme is to set in place the foundations for a culture of honour

We do this through a programme of staff personal development - helping staff to work within a culture that honours one another as well as the residents they care for. We believe that staff self respect, self esteem and self empowerment leads to a happier working environment for staff and a happier living environment for residents. Staff are empowered to serve powerfully.

The programme is based on Richard Burwell's book "The 5 Senses of Self - A Coaching Framework for personal and Team Empowerment". Of which Professor Peter Bradshaw said "This book is a breath of fresh air...”

• A growth in self esteem and in the expectation that they can grow develop and improve in every area of their work and team relationships.

• A growth in the clarity of what is expected of them and in the motivation with which they approach their roles and responsibilities.

• A growth in understanding individual needs and shared team values and a work environment where values are put into practice consistently.

• A growth in confidence, decision making skill and the ability to both take action and exercise restraint in team and resident relationships.

• A growth in the staff’s sense of belonging - a strong sense that they fit in and belong both within the team and within the home, creating an environment where respect, appreciation and the acknowledgment of others’ needs are the norm.

As the staff grow in these key areas  both as individuals and as a team, they will  be helped to recognise how these areas of growth and personal development also need to be honoured for each resident in the home.

As staff recognise the importance of their own self esteem and self belief, they are able to see how important this is for the residents also.

As staff recognise the importance of their own motivation and self direction, they are more able to nurture hope and purpose in residents too.

As staff understand their own values and personal needs they are able to see how residents also have values and needs which are to be honoured

As staff see the importance of their own power of decision and action, the power to choose and to do - they can see this for the resident aldo.

As staff recognise the importance of belonging - both in the team and in the home they work within,  they are helped to see how important this is for the residents and how they can help to improve the residents sense of connection to the home and the community both practically and emotionally.

Because the framework of the course touches on the way we think about ourselves and others, and the way we relate to others, the course has an immediate relevance to life beyond the workplace, and therefore can be recommended to staff as a highly useful self development programme, not just another workplace training course.
